Gyrus Capital holds final close on Gyrus Capital Fund II

GENEVA, Switzerland, December 19th, 2023 – Gyrus Capital S.A. (“Gyrus” or the “Firm”) an investment firm dedicated to investments in the healthcare and sustainability sectors, today announced the final closing of Gyrus Capital Fund II (“Fund II”), raising €310 million and surpassing the €215 million raised for Gyrus Fund I (2021). Fund II consists of the Principal Fund and an open-ended Co-investment vehicle, allowing the Firm to make larger investments. With the close of Fund II, total funds raised since inception (November 2018) exceeds €750 million.

Fund II attracted commitments from world-class institutional investors globally. This investor base represents asset managers, public and private pension funds, insurance companies and family offices, spanning Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia.

Fund II will be a continuation of the strategy demonstrated in Fund I, namely, to generate exceptional and consistent returns from transformational investments into businesses operating in the healthcare and sustainability sectors, focusing on complex transactions such as corporate carve-outs and entrepreneur successions in the €50 to €500 million range.

“We are grateful for the strong support from our existing investors and new investors, reflecting their confidence in our team and strategy” said Guy Semmens, Partner and Co-Founder of Gyrus Capital. “Given the many challenges facing investors, this year has been one of the most difficult fundraising environments, particularly for emerging managers. As a result, we are thrilled and humbled with what we have achieved and hugely appreciative of all those who supported us in this fundraise.”

Fund II has already completed its first investment, LRE Medical, a leading CDMO specialised in complex point of care diagnostic and life science devices. LRE Medical was founded in 1961 and employs more than 250 people in two sites in Germany.

To date, funds advised by Gyrus Capital have completed seven platform investments (four carve-outs and three founder partnerships) and will leverage its sector focus to support management to drive change and unlock value. In June 2023 Gyrus completed its first exit, the sale of dss+ (formerly DuPont Sustainable Solutions) to Inflexion Private Equity, returning more than 8x MOIC.

“We believe transformational investments enabled by our focus in healthcare and sustainability will produce long-term growth and out-performance for our investors” said Dr. Robert Watson, Partner and Co-Founder of Gyrus Capital. “Gyrus has built a strong competitive position as one of few industry players in Europe with a strategy combining a healthcare and sustainability focus with deep corporate carve-out experience. As a result, we continue to see many attractive opportunities in our focus sectors and look forward to delivering on the Gyrus strategy over the coming years.”
